Sonal Bhuchar elected as President of FBISD Board

FBISD Trustee Sonal Bhuchar, who had been in the board president’s seat for three years before Bob Broxson was elected as President of the FBISD Board last evening.
The board was reorganized Monday night after two new trustees, Jim Babb and Jim Rice, were sworn in. The board elected Susan Hohnbaum vice president and Daniel Menendez board secretary.

IAPAC launches unique inter PAC relationships.

Indo-American Political Action Committee of Greater Houston is the political voice of Indo Americans of Greater Houston.

While, IAPAC continues to provide Indo Americans of Greater Houston a platform to take educated decisions related to political interventions, while continuing to remain non-partisan, it embarks on initiatives to bridge the gap between Indo Americans of Greater Houston and other communities within Houston.

IAPAC launched a joint IAPAC – VA – PAC (Vietnamese PAC) periodic intervention program with a joint meeting of some it’s board members last week. This was held at the Vietnamese Communities & Vicinities located in the Mahatma Gandhi District of Houston.

Welcoming the members of IAPAC, Mr. Philip Nguyen , Board Member of VA-PAC & Dy. Director of the Vietnamese Community of Houston & Vicinities talked about the history of their community’s presence in the US. Councilman Al Hoang is a fine example of political success of Vietnamese Americans in Houston. The community has made tremendous strides in the business arena with major developments near downtown and off Bellaire. Mr. Joe Phan, another Board Member of VA – PAC & the President of the Vietnamese Communities & Vicinities talked about ways that that the Indian Community & the Vietnamese community can work together. Peter Tran Dzung, President – VA-PAC talked about ways the two PACs working together can help identify and encourage our community into leadership roles in the political process.

IAPAC was represented by it’s President Ramesh Anand & other Board Members Sam Merchant, Jagat Kamdar & Vish Bhaskaran. Ramesh Anand, President of IAPAC thanked the VA-PAC Board members for the hospitality and briefly talked about the history of IAPAC and some of it’s recent initiatives. Jagat Kamdar, Board Member of IAPAC shared insights on various Indo Americans running for Congress across the US in the upcoming elections and the long standing relationship that IAPAC has had with elected officials locally and nationally.
IAPAC Board Members Vish Bhaskaran & Sam Merchant related their thoughts and vision of the two PACs working together and the opportunities they provide the communities.

We all know Harris County Judge position is very important and so the election is also important. IAPAC, as a non-partisan entity organized a reception for a Republican Candidate Judge Ed Emmett last month. IAPAPC has now organized a reception for Gordon Quan, a Democrat Candidate. He is another outstanding candidate. He was elected for three terms as City of Houston council member with majorityand served as Mayor Pro-Tem of the City of Houston. As a leader and also as an immigration attorney, he has helped thousands of Indian Americans to get their legal immigration status. He has become a great friend of many IndianAmericans. Many of you know him personally and he is always available to help and talk to you.

Like many immigrant children, Gordon Quan migrated from China when hewas a little boy. He has a risen from a family owned grocery storebusiness to one of the best immigration attorneys in the United States.
